today I was the Glee teacher...

Today I was a high school music teacher. When I told my husband this morning what I was teaching today he said that I was the Glee teacher! We have been watching Glee again, and loving it.
My Dad passed away suddenly of a heart attack last October and I miss so much. When I put my scarf on this morning it bought a little tear to my eye. it always reminds me of him and how much he loved and cared for me and how he would always bring me back little treasures from his travels. Love you Dad.

Important lessons I learned today...
  1. Be careful when you walk up behind small children when they don't know you are there, you will frighten them and they will run away
  2. Children think that Teachers are only found at schools, and when they see you at the local shopping center they will embarrass you by saying loudly "hey, what are you doing here?"
  3. Children say exactly what they are thinking the moment they think it with out thinking of the consequences, which at times can be hilarious
  4. There are some lovely well behaved young adults out there and I had the privilege of teaching them music today

life is wonderful for me and my little boy...

It was another glorious day today. We had such a hectic long weekend as you probably read on my previous posts we were sick and Will had his elbow dislocated, but we also got up to lots of fun stuff as well. We went to a friends place for a games night, watched my mum march in the ANZAC day parade, had lunch with my family at the beach front, went to church and then out for dinner and yesterday we caught the train to the city and did a little book shopping and had lunch. So after all that busyness I decided that Will and I would spend the day at home (also Will still has a runny nose and a bit of a cough).
We have had such a great time today, playing, reading, eating and relaxing outside together. Usually everyday I have something to go and do, out to the gym, the supermarket, play dates, music time, work/daycare and today was so nice just staying home and being together, something I should do more often.
It was beautiful outside and we spent lots of time out there in the sunshine, even rolling on the grass with the dog!

William is obsessed with his toy animals at the moment and he carries them around in a big tin. So while he was asleep I set his animals up outside on the table. I added some water, sand and plant life for a little more interest and he loved it.

He played with the animals in the sand box and then gave them a wash in the water. He lined them all up and we went through the names of the animals and as I said an animal name he was able to pick it up and show me. We are really focusing on Williams language at the moment so this was a great activity. After we finished playing outside William insisted on leaving his animals and their new home up on the big table outside. I think he had 2 reasons for this, 1 he didn't want the dog to chew his little buddies and 2 he is going to go back again tomorrow for more fun!
My friend Christie has a great blog and if you would like more play ideas for you and your children you should check out her website, its full of wonderful ideas.

Hello from the Emergency Room...

Life just got a little more dramatic! William was at his Nan and Pops place last night having a sleep over while my hubby and I were at friends place for a games night. We got a call during the evening to say that William may have hurt his arm, they were holding his hands and swinging him between them while they were walking along and they though they heard his elbow pop. He wasn't using his arm and he was pretty grizzly so we decided to take him to the emergency room and get him checked out. His Nanny and Poppy felt sooooo bad, but these things happen.
We were fast tracked at the ER because he was so little and he hadn't moved his arm in over an hour and they saw us straight away. Will had popped his elbow out, the DR popped it back in and with in 2 minutes he was happy and running around the ER playing peek a boo with us. It was amazing to see the transformation! So we delivered him back to a his very relieved Nanny and Poppy's house to continue his sleep over and we went back to our games night. Life is full of adventures with our little 2 year old boy, this was our 4th ER visit in his short life! Please William, no more....

Hello from my recovery bed...

I have spent the last few days in bed, I have had food poisoning, YUCK! I haven't posted anything lately because I felt that you really wouldn't want to know about my experiences or what I wore over the last couple of days.
While wasting away in bed I did spend sometime reading my favorite blogs. I have enjoyed reading about Kendi's wardrobe challenge on her blog Kendi Everday. Kendi has imposed a shopping ban on herself for a month to prove to herself that she doesn't need new clothes all the time and that she can remix what she already has. She selected a whole bunch of items from her wardrobe and she is only allowed to wear these clothes for 30 days and NO shopping. She has been posting her outfit pictures everyday and she is doing really well. I think this is a great idea and I am thinking of trying a similar challenge.
Another fav blog of mine is Jessica Schroeders blog What I Wore, actually I think this is my all time favorite blog. She put a video up about how she puts her hair up in to a bee hive hairstyle, its really cute, you should check it out.
It is a long weekend here in the land down under. It is ANZAC day tomorrow and all over the country there will be memorial services. ANZAC day is where we remember an honour the brave men and women who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey in World War 1. I always say every year that we should go to the dawn service at Kings Park but once again we wont be going (on the count that I am sick and my little boy has a cold), maybe next year.

Sunday lunch in Fremantle

It was a beautiful sunny day on Sunday, in fact it was really warm for an Autumn day. I met my gal pal Noelene in Fremantle for lunch. We ate out in the sunshine at the Fremantle Bakehouse and then wandered through the Fremantle markets.

There is always plenty to see at the markets, but it was all looking and no buying for me this time. We did come across an interesting store that I hadn't seen before, A Maize Homewears. It is located on the outside of the markets and it is jam packed with beautiful stuff. I think I probably spent a couple of hundred dollars in there, all in my mind of course! I will definitely be saving my pennies and head back there to buy some lovely treasures for my home.

The details.....
dress - op shop
belt - Target
shoes - Spendless Shoes
silk flower - Diva
pearl earrings - a gift from my husband when my little boy was born

Welcoming Little Baby Boy Holland

It is a very exciting day in my family today, my Sister gave birth to her little boy this morning at 8.54am and he was 51cm and weighed 8.3lb. He is yet to have a name, they are still deciding between the names Daniel, Joshua and Samuel. They are all great names and I love all of them, I'm glad its them deciding and not me.
She had a fairly quick labor and I am very proud of her delivering him naturally, no drugs!
It was wonderful having cuddles with him, little babies are so precious, he is a little angle sent straight from heaven and I am going to enjoy watching him grow and develop into a wonderful man of God.
Oh, and I cant wait until I have another baby, it is such a wonderful part of life :-)

Happy Easter!

I have just arrived home after going camping down south for the Easter Long Weekend. I had a wonderful time with my family and friends and it is great to be home.
I love spending holidays with my family. When I was growing up I wasn't surrounded by a large family. All my extended family lived on the other side of Australia and we didn't see them much and we hardly saw the little family we had here in Western Australia, basically it was just my mum and dad and my two sisters.
Now I am married and spend a lot of time with my in laws, and with my sisters and there extended family. It is great. I love watching my son play with his cousins and his Aunt and Uncles and I delight in the fact that he has the large close family that I never had when I was little. And I love that he is close with my mum and my husbands parents, something I never experienced either.
My family is wonderful and my life is wonderful, thank you for dying on the cross for me Jesus and thank you for rising again after three days, with out you all of this would not have been possible. It is you who loves me and makes my life wonderful.
