10 years ago today we said I do...

Today is my 10 year wedding anniversary and it has been the best 10 years of my life. On one hand I cant believe we have been married 10 years, I can remember our wedding day like it was just yesterday and on the other hand it feels like we have always been together and I cant remember any form of life before Greg and I started dating.

Greg and I have known each other for ever, well since we were about 12 years old. We met at youth group. When we were 16 we started hanging out together all the time and then we started dating when we were 17. Engaged at 19  and married at 20. And here we are 10 years later still madly in love with each other and now madly in love with our son William as well.
Life is wonderful, I am loving every aspect of my life. Being a wife and a mother is all I dreamed it would be and more and I am looking forward to what the future holds for me and my little family.

Then...

and now ...

Things I have learned over the last 10 years...
  •  If I want something done properly, I have to do it myself (I am fussy and particular)
  • The magic washing basket that was at my Mothers house does not exist in my house, I actually have to do the washing myself
  • Greg can never remember which bath towel is his and always ends up using mine, you would think by now I would have bought us his and hers towels
  • After awhile you do become more like each other, that's why I grew my hair long again so people could tell us apart!
  • Greg just gets better and more handsome with age, I love you sweetie :-)

Outfit mood board

I have just discovered a great website, Polyvore. It is a virtual styling website where you sort through and select images to create fashion mood boards. It is great fun and I have been playing around with it for the last hour (instead of getting ready for work tomorrow!).
I love all things french, so of course my first outfit mood board was french inspired. I imagine myself back on the streets of Paris, shopping and eating baguettes with fresh cheese and wine. A girl can dream cant she?

Melbourne style file

We stumbled across this funky bar in one of the alleyways in the city. It was open air with beautiful trees and all the furniture was recycled wood and old packing creates, very Melbourne.

Things I discovered on my Melbourne trip...
  • Melbourne is extremely multicultural with so many different races coming to live together. So you have an eclectic mix of people, shops and restaurants it was fantastic
  • People watching is awesome in Melbourne, so many different styles of fashion
  • There were lots of girls wearing Ugg Boots around the city, which was weird considering it was wet and they are not designed to wear in the rain
  • Everybody is wearing boots. I saw little girls wearing boots over their jeaggings (denim leggings), young ladies waring boots over jeans and tights and older ladies as well getting in on the trend, it was fabulous, so many different types of boots, I just love boots (I own 3 pairs!)
  • I love cold weather
  • I could shop all day, even if I don't buy anything I still love browsing

Melbourne style file

Day 2 in Melbourne was market day. We visited St Kilda and walked along the beach front and looked at the craft stalls that were there. We didn't stay very long though because it was raining. We caught the tram back into the city and visited the Queen Victoria Markets, Melbourne's most popular and I guess somewhat famous markets.  If I lived in Mel I would definitely visit these markets once a week to stock up on the fresh fish, vegetable, wines, cheeses and bakery delights they have on offer. My mouth was watering looking at all the delicious foods, however my tummy was full from the buffet breakfast I had that morning. I bought some cute little wooden toys for my sister in laws new baby and some canvas artworks for myself, oh and some fudge and watermelon juice, yum!

I had a wander through a very cool vintage store, Retro Star. They had some great stuff lots of dresses, shoes, hats, bags, shirts, coats everything. I walked away empty handed though, a little to expensive for second hand clothing (for me anyway). Well worth a visit though, you should check it out if you are even in town.

I finally have my new looooong jeans, and that makes me very happy

Here are my long awaited extra long jeans. The store said they would only take 5 working days to arrive, 3 weeks later I finally have them and aren't they beautiful! And the funny thing is they were to long and I had to have them hemmed. I was anxiously waiting for my jeans arrived because I wanted to take them to Melbourne with me, but they didn't arrive in time. I left for the airport on Friday morning and the jeans came to my door that afternoon, oh well never mind at least I have them now.

Living it up, Melbourne style

We have just come home from our trip to Melbourne and I had such a fabulous time.Greg and I had 3 full days in which we shopped, walked the city streets, ate in funky restaurants and cafes, people watched, went to the cinema and a football game and drove around looking at the suburbs around town. It was lucky that we left William back at home otherwise we just might have stayed there!

On our first full day we went shopping, I think Greg just wanted to get it over and done with! But he was very good and let me shop all day. We caught the free tram from the city to South Bank where we visited the new DFO (Direct Factory Outlet). I was a little disappointed with whats was on offer and I didn't buy any clothes, I came away with some jewelery and a scarf. I couldn't believe I had traveled all that way and come out with no clothes, but isn't that always the way. When you have money and are looking for something you never find anything, and when you have no money you always find heaps of things your would love to buy.

One thing about Melbourne is it is freezing in winter. The whole time we were there it was cold and we never saw the sunshine. It is completely opposite to my home town of Perth. The day before I flew out of Perth I was walking around in a t-shirt during the day it was that warm. But not in Melbourne, cold and raining, but I loved it. This outfit proved not to be warm enough, I needed a longer sleeve, a scarf and boots, oh and an umbrella!

Happy Birthday Baby

Today is my little boys 2nd birthday! Happy Birthday William, I love you soooo much!

This is me two weeks before William was born and he was two weeks early. I was only in labour for 8 hours and I did it drug free, all natural!

I think William was just a few days old in this picture, I just loved this little hat. I still have it and it is tiny, I still cant believe it ever fitted on his head.

Our first family photo

A few interesting things about William...
He has the most beautiful blue eyes, they are exactly like mine, and mine are exactly like my Dads!
He has 2 middle names Terence Robert, named after his Pop and Granddad
He loves cars and animals and Thomas the tank
He loves to read books, the other night he fell asleep with a book on his face, he was reading in bed!
He was the easiest baby, hardly ever cried, breast fed really well, slept through the night at 8 weeks and was no trouble at all

Romantic Getaway

My husband I are are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this month, so we are going on a short trip to Melbourne. We are leaving our little boy with his grandparents for 5 days, this will be the longest I have left him and I am a little nervous about doing it. I just hope he doesn't miss us to much.
So while I am away I wont be doing any posting, but I will hopefully be shopping up a storm!
