First day of November - my new favorite day

I am so very looking forward to the first of November. That is the day that we start our little adventure to Canada. We have finally booked our flights and I am so glad we put of buying our tickets until now beacuse we just found out about an amazing deal (and by an amazing deal I mean super cheap) from Air Canada for people going to work for the ski season. So the count down is on - 9 weeks and we are out of here!

It was my brother in laws birthday today, so we were at my In Laws for lunch. We had all my favorites, roast beef, roasted vegetables and cheesecake. Lucky I went to the gym this morning so I didn't feel to bad about having a big slice of cheesecake!

Keep calm and carry on

I would just like to start off by telling you how much I appreciate you all for reading my blog. Your wonderful comments put a smile on my face and brighten my day. So THANK YOU for making me feel great :)
I taught year 6 today and even though I was not feeling crash hot I still had a lovely day. I love the year 6 class I worked with today and they enjoy having me as a teacher (I am not making that up, they told me today). They made me smile today by giving me lots of lovely compliments. I love the school that I work in, it is such a great little community who openly love and support each other.

And thank you for all the well wishes, I had a good nights sleep last night and now feel a little better but the sick saga unfortunately gets worse...
My little boy was sent home from daycare today because he now has hand, foot and mouth disease. He has a nasty rash on his hands, feet and mouth which is contagious. So my husband took the day off work to look after him and they got up to all sorts of fun. When I came home they were baking cupcakes!

William did most of the work can you believe it, he is going to be a good little cook when he gets older, now if I could just get him to clean up the kitchen...

sickies

All three of us went to the Doctors this morning all with the same symptoms. We haven't been very well for a few weeks now and thought it time to visit our family Doctor (and he is a family friend). So hopefully we will all be feeling better soon and back to 100% working capacity because as you know there is LOTS to do around here.

gotta love kids...

I taught year 5 today and they were so wonderful. They were very friendly, polite, well mannered and they worked well in all their lessons. I would say that they have been the best class I have taught so far doing relief teaching. I was their Pre Primary teacher 5 years ago and they were just as wonderful then so it is nice to see they are still doing well.

Last night I looked after my niece and nephew.
The 3 kids had such a great time reading stories, laughing and giggling together.
They were so cute that I didn't want to disrupt them to put them into their own beds to go to sleep.

Winter sunshine

We spent the morning at the beach in the beautiful sunshine with our wonderful friends Christie and Immy. Will and Immy had such a lovely time playing in the sand, rolling down the dunes, collecting sea shells and playing on the playground it really breaks my heart to think that they wont see each other for while, but never mind we have lots of adventures ahead of us and new things to do and experience.

I have been waiting and waiting for my working visa to arrive, and I recieved a phone call today and they told me there was some missing paper work. I am a little angry at the woman who originally took my papers because I tried to give her the missing documents but she said she didn't need them. Turns out she did need them and now I have to post them off and continue waiting, and I am no good at waiting :(

Sunday night = church night

The sorting and packing has begun at my house. Yesterday we had a garage sale and managed to sell most of our unwanted bits and pieces and today we started packing up the things we want to keep into boxes ready to go into storage. Now our trip seems more real then ever and it has made me very excited. A part of me wishes that we could leave tomorrow, but I need to slow down and enjoy the weeks I have left with my family and friends (I am going to miss them so much).
Will and I are about to leave for church, tonight my hubby will be playing bass guitar in the band. This will only be the second time he has ever played with a band but he is awesome. He is a drummer and is a natural musician and can pretty much play any instrument he picks up, I am so jealous!

Hello :-)

I haven't had any work this week so I have been enjoying spending time back in my old routine of exercising at the gym each morning and taking William to play with his little friends and at the park. I sure am going to miss those play dates while we are away.
Life is just about to get a bit more hectic. We have to be in Canada a week earlier then expected so it is all hands on deck to start getting ready for a garage sale. We are going to sell most of our stuff and put the rest of it in storage while we are away. So this weekend we will be sorting through EVERYTHING in our house and shed and making 3 piles -throw, keep and sell. I am going to have to be really ruthless, I always hold on to stuff just in case I may need it one day and most of the time that one day never arrives!

Saturdays forecast - baby showers

Today I went to my sister in laws first (she is having 2 the lucky girl) baby shower (that is 1 baby 2 baby showers!) Today's party was for all the ladies in her extended family, her aunties and cousins. We spent the afternoon sitting in the beautiful sunshine drinking tea, eating scones with jam and cream and talking about how gorgeous Chelsea looks oh and of course looking at all the lovely gifts she had been given.

I love babies but I do not like baby showers, never have. I think it is a wonderful idea to gather together and bring beautiful gifts for the new baby but I hate playing the silly games. But despite the games (like eating baby food and identifying what type of chocolate had been smeared on a nappy, gross I know) it was a lovely afternoon catching up with the family and celebrating the up and coming arrival of my sure to be gorgeous niece!.

I bought a couple of necklaces from my favorite cheap store, the 2 3 and 5 dollar shop and I took them apart and arranged the pendants to make one new necklace. My husband asked me about my necklace and said he really liked it, something he never does. Not because he doesn't appreciate my outfit he just doesn't notice little details, he is slowly learning to notice and pay the appropriate compliments!!

the life of the blessed family

It was a looooong night at our place last night.
My little boy was finding it hard to settle and kept waking through the night.
In the end he ended up sleeping with us in our bed his little arms wrapped tightly around my neck, bless him. So we are a little tiered this morning and we are spending some time at home, me relaxing
(while the washer is cleaning my clothes and dishwasher doing my dishes of course)
and William is playing in the warm sunshine out the back.

Let me tell you what a typical day looks like for us.
I am a relief teacher so if I get called to work in the morning William either goes to day care or to my father in laws house for the day.
In the afternoon I spend time playing and reading story books with Will and at night once he has gone to bed I catch up on a little housework and relax in front of the TV with Greg.
If I dont get called to work in the morning William and I go to our local YMCA.
I work out in the gym and Will plays with the kids in the creche.
If we are not at the Y we spend mornings at the park or at our friends place so I can chat and Will can play with the kiddies.
We have lunch together and then Will has an afternoon nap.
During nap time I blog and do boring house stuff and in the afternoon after Will wakes up it is play time again.

I love my life!

weekend fun

It is the weekend, again. The weeks are just flying past, I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing at the moment. We are trying to sell out home at the moment which is a very frustrating process. Trying to keep the house tidy when you live with 2 messy boys (Will and Greg) is nearly impossible. We had a home open today so it was all hand on deck this morning to tidy and clean the house from top to bottom. Even William helped out! I think he got more water on the floor and on himself then was left in the sink but he did a great job doing the dishes.

After we cleaned up the house we had to go out for the afternoon, so I went to the gym (my legs are killing me!) and Greg and William went to Greg's mums house for afternoon tea. Not wanting to miss out on anything I headed over there after my work out and ate home made vanilla slice, lucky I did a work out right?
Then in the evening we headed to our friends house for poker night. I don't play poker, but I sit and chat with my girl friends which makes for a great evening

words of wisdom from five year olds

I have been teaching Pre Primary the last few days and it has been wonderful. Before I left teaching to travel and have my baby boy I used to teach Pre Primary. It was lovely to be back on familiar territory and working with my friends again.
Some things I learned from the Pre Primary students...
  • The children think that being 30 is really really old
  • I am HUGE even bigger then some of the Daddy's! (I am a little over 6 foot and to a 5 year old that is pretty big)
  • Children say exactly what they are thinking exactly when they think it
  • They tell you the most random things like "I like carrots" even though we were not talking about anything carrot related!
  • They give you the best compliments. I was told that I was loved, that I was pretty and that they liked my ring and feathers. I love my job :-)

Question Time!

I have been tagged to answer 8 questions about myself from No Guilt Fashion (please go and check out her blog, she has great style) I love doing these kind of things.

The rules are to answer her eight questions, come up eight new questions, and tag eight new bloggers.

So here are my answers...

1.If you could choose to live any place, where would you live? It would have to be either Paris or New York. I think I will choose NY because then I could holiday in Paris!

2. If you could only wear one color for an entire month what would you choose? Well my favorite colour at the moment is purple so I will go with that

3. Do you own any pets? Up until recently I had dog and her name was Millie. We had Millie for 8 years and we have just given her to a new family and I miss her like crazy

4. What is your dream job? To own my own childrens books store, like The Shop Around The Corner out of the movie You've Got Mail

5. What is your favorite desert? Apple pie with custard and ice cream, yum!

6. What type of music do you listen to? Anything that is currently playing on the radio, mainly Pop

7. Name one thing that makes you happy? Reading story books with my little boy William

8. If you could have a hour long shopping spree at any store, where would you choose? Target, because I could shop for clothes, shoes, bags and accessories all in the one place and all for a good price!

And here are my new questions...
  1. What is you all time favorite store to shop in?
  2. Use one sentence to sum up what your personal style is
  3. Do you shop online? if yes what is your favorite website?
  4. You have been given some money to spend on your self. What are you going to use it for?
  5. What is the first thing you do when you get home from a hard days work?
  6. What is your favorite thing to do with your girl friends?
  7. If your house was on fire and you could save something from your closet what would it be?
  8. What is the most expensive thing in your closet?
And here are the lovely people I have tagged (go and check out their awesome blogs) , I hope you can play along...
  1.  Chic on the cheap
  2. Park and Vivianne
  3. Pocket of Presh
  4. Pretty Little Pictures
  5. The other Emily
  6. This Little Piggy
  7. Totally Tessa
  8. Little Tin Soldier

love hate

I am so glad the weekend is over. I have a a love hate relationship with the weekend some times. I love it because we get to to do fun things as a family and we often go out with family or friends and of course there is church. But sometimes we are so busy that by the time Monday rolls around I am beyond exhausted and I always have a million things around the house to catch up on, I have to go to the gym, do the food shopping and Will is usually grumpy and tiered to. So this is what I propose. We make Monday the third day of the weekend and make Tuesday the first day of the working week, what do you think?? There is an election coming up here in Australia, who ever makes this proposal as their campaign promise has my vote!

sunshine

The weather was beautiful today so we headed up to Jandakot airport so that we could have a picnic lunch in the sunshine and Will could watch the planes landing and taking off. It was so lovely out in the fresh air and warm sun that I could have sprawled out on the grass and had a snooze.

Lately William has hated having his picture taken and every time I point the camera in his direction and tell him to say cheese he throws up his hands and says no!

Thank you to everybody who left some kind comments yesterday, it is always lovely to know that people are thinking of you.
