here are some of the highlights of our adventure...
we had fun discovering the best places to shop for all our needs. exploring market after market and supermarket after supermarket. we found the best fruit seller, vegetable seller, butcher and little supermarket and they all knew our faces and greeted us warmly when we stopped by.
we took a tour of the royal palace. while we were here in cambodia the king of cambodia passed away and the country was in mourning. he was a well loved king and the people miss him.
we both took khmer language lessons. we studied five times a week for several months. after our lessons finished we still continued to see our teachers and they became our good friends.
greg volunteered full time with the NGO daughters of cambodia. he was in charge of business development.
i spent some of my time volunteering with the NGOs transform cambodia and water of life.
i was honored to be apart of the rescue of this gorgeous mumma and the birth and first month of her precious little girls life.
we experienced rainy season. we battled the elements, driving around on the moto and taking tuk tuks in the rain through flooded streets. and of course after rainy season came dry season and it was HOT!
we saw, tasted and ate lots of new and interesting foods. greg was much more adventurous then me of course! i enjoyed the tropical fruit and fruit smoothies that were available everywhere.
we saw and experienced many interesting and weird sights, sounds and smells!
we were able to help set and be involved with the opening of the phnom penh house of prayer and the new daughters garden cafe.
we visited and witnessed at the provinces and the poor areas
we hung out and played with the kids at the children of hope children's home
we lived, worshiped, prayed and joined in fellowship with our brothers and sisters at water of life
we met the most amazing people. people with a heart for God and heart for cambodia. we made new friends and we had an amazing time with them.
eight months here felt like a year. we achieved a lot but still feels like there is so much more to do. i guess it will always feel like that in a place like this.
You certainly have some great memories to take away with you. xx
